The Marshall City Council placed the plat on the consent agenda and set a public hearing for December 13 during its regular meeting on Tuesday.

"City administration regards the plat as a formality because there is little reason to not approve a plat to merge parcels and clarify property descriptions," said Jason Anderson, director of Marshall Public Works.

The agenda package said that Dollar General has purchased two parcels for development along East College Drive.

However, the store building is currently perched over the lot line between the two lots. That is prohibited by city zoning laws, which call for property line setbacks.

The situation was complicated by an error in the property descriptions in the lot descriptions.
