The Witcher Remake Coming With Unreal Engine 5

As CD Projekt Red recently revealed, the very first game in The Witcher series is currently being rebuilt for contemporary consoles. The Witcher was a series with a modest cult following up until The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt transformed it into a worldwide phenomenon that now has its own renowned series on Netflix.

This game was the first game produced by the Polish firm. Those who played the original game at the time thought it was fun, but from a contemporary perspective it fails due to several issues and dubious design decisions.

It’s great to have a chance for both new and veteran fans to go through this classic again, especially in light of CD Projekt Red’s recent declaration that a new Witcher trilogy is in their long-term plans.

The Polish studio Fool’s Theory is working with several seasoned Witcher developers on this project, which was formerly known by the codename “Canis Majoris.”

This remake should be a true reinvention of the game, as opposed to a simple graphical boost like some remasters, as the announcement states that the game is being “rebuilt from the ground up with Unreal Engine 5”.

The team warns that the game is still in its early stages of development and begs for patience before giving any further details. This reminds us of The Elder Scrolls 6, which hasn’t received any official information since its E3 2018 teaser, though perhaps this won’t be quite as extreme.
