Kanye West is Surprisingly Removed From Def Jam Recordings; Know the Reason

Kanye West is Surprisingly Removed From Def Jam Recordings; Know the Reason: A source close to Def Jam reportedly told The New York Times that G.O.O.D. Music is no longer associated with the record label. Following the release of 2021’s Donda, Ye’s contract with the label as an artist terminated; however, it’s unknown if he was anticipated to keep working with his longstanding label home until his most recent anti-Semitic comments.

With his debut track “Through the Wire” from 2003, Ye made his Def Jam debut under the Roc-A-Fella label. With the exception of Donda 2, the label handled distribution for all of his productions.

He established G.O.O.D. Music in 2004 and in 2011 reached a deal with The Island Def Jam Music Group, currently known simply as Def Jam through Universal Music Group. When the partnership between G.O.O.D. and Def Jam ended is unknown.

Donda 2, his own release, was made available only for his $200 Stem Player. The album is still not available for standard streaming or purchase. Def Jam issued the most recent two G.O.O.D. Music albums, You Can’t Kill Me by 070 Shake and It’s Almost Dry by Pusha T, in June and April, respectively.

It’s Almost Dry will complete Pusha T’s contract with Def Jam, according to the rapper’s manager Steven Victor, who made the announcement in January. He has not yet stated if he will part ways with the label or look for a new outlet for his upcoming record.
