This week, according to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, Matt Rhule declined the position of head football coach at Nebraska.

Has Matt Rhule been watching the Cornhusker lately? That was the globe as seen through many sources. Rhule had been the front-runner to succeed Scott Frost.

"Even if Rhule did remove his name from consideration, that doesn't always mean the work was of a low calibre.

It's still going to be difficult for whoever wins Nebraska, but for Rhule, it might be yet another sign that he plans to take 2023 off to recuperate and cut back," he said.

Rhule, however, is reportedly "back in play" with the Huskers. On3 reported on Wednesday night that the former Carolina Panthers head coach is still very likely to be hired by the Huskers.

Rhule has been viewed as a top target for the team ever since Scott Frost was fired by the Huskers earlier this year.

Some people believe that interim coach Mickey Joseph still meets the requirements for the position. Additionally, Matt Campbell and Luke Fickell may be targets, according to some reports.
